27 Bones
Riverside Studios, London
November 2011

Lining the walls of Riverside Studios, large dislocated luminous limbs loom from the darkness. Devotional fingers bearing tiny frailties of bitten nails and flaking cuticles line the walls forming a larger-than-life sized salute to the viewer.

Influenced by the devout hand positions in El Greco’s paintings of Saints, the photographs capture hand movements and gestures in displays of approval, gratitude and devotion. In an age where religious practices have taken a back seat in contemporary western culture, Molins photographs return to themes of idolatry, rapture and reverence.
